Event Details

Learn about the diversity of native insect pollinators and their importance in our ecosystem. Attendees will also learn about some of the common threats to insect pollinators, as well as ways to support these important critters with simple conservation actions.

Dr. Katie Burns is an ecologist and science communicator currently based in Midcoast Maine. She has worked in ecology and conservation for over 12 years, focusing mainly on native insect pollinators. In 2021, she completed her PhD on the contributions and conservation of insect pollinators in Ireland. She is deeply passionate about introducing folks to the miniature worlds that surround us, but so often go unnoticed.
