Program Description

Event Details

Paws & Pages is a program where children can practice reading to a certified therapy dog. Smith the golden retriever and his person, Jane, will be here every other Friday for one hour. Readers can sign up for their one-on-one reading session with Smith. Each session is 15 minutes. Registration is encouraged but not required. Please call, email, or stop by the Children's Library Downtown to register for a specific date.

Paws & Pages is designed for children who are learning to read aloud or who are looking to build confidence in their reading skills. Children are welcome to bring their own favorite book to read to Smith, or they can borrow one of the many library books we have here.

Smith is a member of the Alliance for Therapy Dogs.

Disclaimer(s)

The library is committed to making services available to everyone. All events at PPL buildings are wheelchair accessible. Some library programs take place outdoors or offsite at partner organizations and businesses. Persons requiring special assistance are encouraged to discuss needs with the contact listed for the event.

Children's programs and events at PPL are designed for children under the age of 12 and their caregivers unless otherwise stated. We ask that older kids (teens) and solo adults not attend or register for programs designated Children's for the benefit of our young participants.
